Phillip Rumlin-Bond

Phillip Rumlin-Bond is a prodigy violinist and has a beautiful spirit. He is a student of violinist Patrice Floyd at Javacya Arts Conservatory. He had master classes with esteemed violinists Rachel Barton-Pine, Amadi Azikiwi, and members of the famous Sphinx Virtuosi, a chamber orchestra.

Phillip is age 15, a 10th-grade gifted student at the Florida A & M University Developmental Research School (FAMU DRS). For three consecutive seasons, he has served as the Javacya Elite Chamber Orchestra concertmaster. At FAMU DRS, Phillip is a mentor and Assistant Teacher for the FAMU String Robotics Youth Orchestra and has received over $25K in scholarship monies over the past four years of summer-winter training at Interlochen Summer Arts Academy, Sphinx Performance Academy, Sphinx Connect. Additionally, he is a member of the Alpha Teens and ROTC Air Force at FAMU DRS.

Phillip recently began his second year of academic studies at FAMU DRS. It is a perfect fit. He says that the teachers are challenging and do not accept that a student has nothing to contribute to a lecture. DRS has been a perfect fit for him. After graduation, Phillip plans to attend either Juilliard, Oberlin, Curtis, or whatever music Conservatory provides a full scholarship.

During summer months, Phillip has trained at the prestigious Interlochen Arts Academy (Michigan), and the Four-Square Academy (Boston) and had additional master classes with Dr. Simon Shiao (University of North Florida) and Meredith Harris (Houston Symphony). Phillip recently had violin tutorials with virtuoso violinist, Amadi Azikiwe.

His hobbies include playing video games, reading, and composing music.
